I haven’t seen much Westmorland League footy over the past week or so due to the horrendous weather conditions.. I was going to go to Kendal County reserves home match with Kendal Utd last Tuesday; however a heavy downpour of rain kicked in leading to the match being postponed.
Last season the weather caused chaos with the fixtures, leading to all local cup competitions being pulled, so their wasn’t a massive fixture pile up at the end.
I am hoping the same situation doesn’t occur again, especially at the early part of the season.
This Sunday sees Kendal County host Penrith in the semi finals of the invitation trophy. The winners of this will advance to the final to play Keswick or Ambleside.
My next match will be next Tuesday when Kendal County’s reserves host Ibis.
This will be County’s reserves 1st home match of the season, whilst for ibis this is their 1st match of the season.
It should be a good match to watch, both sides gave each other a game last season, and I remember Ibis winning at County’s pitch, and it was an entertaining encounter.
On Wednesday I might pop down to watch Burnesides reserves play Milnthorpe, Burneside are doing well at the moment scoring 17 goals, in the early part of the season, which includes a 7-4 win at Carvettis reserves and a 7-1 win over Ambelsides reserves. They also drew 2-2 against Windermere’s reserves.
Lets hope all stays fine for the weekend and next week!, my next blog will be covering the above and also looking at the Junior league in Cumbria, so watch out for that!
