WITH the first XV and the Wasps ladies' team having no game at the weekend, Kendal RUFC's development side took centre stage.

And they made full use of the opportunity as they avenged one of their two losses this season in some style, scoring 14 tries in a convincing 88-0 victory over Vale of Lune 2nds.

Vale of Lune picked the wrong day to visit Mint Bridge, as they came up against a strong team in rampaging form.

The Friday evening game was switched from the main pitch to the 3G due to frosty conditions, and Kendal found the surface to their liking as they breached the Vale line no fewer than 14 times without reply.

Tries came from Dane Blenkharn (3), Jake Chaplow (2), Nathan Wooff (2), Lewis Kincart, Will Holden, Rhys Hennedy Otway (2) and Dan Shorrock (3), with Chris Park adding eight conversions and Wooff one.

Dan Reid had a great game, with Alistair Thompson and Blenkharn also prominent, whilst Park was prominent in the back line.

The U15s were also in great form, running out resounding 34-5 winners against their opposite numbers from Fylde.

Two tries from Charlie Lowther, who is currently top of the appearances, tries and points table, and Ollie Yarker, and further tries from Oliver Stephenson and Dan Wilson were answered by a single try just after the break from Fylde.

Aaron Stevens slotted over two conversions.

On Saturday, the first XV are back in action at Mint Bridge, looking to bounce back from the loss to Bradford & Bingley in their last game when they host table toppers York.

Supporters should note kick off is 2.15pm and not 2pm as in previous winter fixtures.

The published fixture for the Wasps v Wetherby has been postponed and their final game of the year is on Sunday, December 15 when they travel to high flying Bishop Auckland for a cup game.
