A TRIO of promising players from South Lakeland showed their undoubted potential when they were called up to the Cumbria county squad.

James Seaton and Xavier Tomlinson of Kendal were paired in the ‘engine room’ of the county side’s pack at numbers 4 and 5 for the under 18s clash with neighbours Durham, with Kirkby Lonsdale's Callum Bland also in the line up.

And the three played their part in a successful afternoon for Cumbria as they saw off their local rivals 17-14.

A third player from the Mint Bridge side, Alex Ryder, was also selected for the county squad but unfortunately missed the game due to injury.
