KENDAL RUFC received the all-clear from the Home Office which will allow Romanian Lucian Morosan to play first-team rugby and he goes straight in at scrum-half for the trip to Westoe.

The Mint Bridge club has been locked in a battle with the authorities over Morosan's eligibility since the start of the season.

After protectrated negotiations between the club and the authorities, Moroson was formally recognised as an onffcially registered Romanian international player and a European citizen to allow his registration applciation to go forward to RFU headquarters at Twickenham, which came through on Friday afternoon.

Kendal club spokesman Frank Jameson said: " Lucian has been very patient, playing almost every game for the 2nd XV, and hardly missing a training session.

" His attitude has been exemplary, his devotion to fitness 100 percent and I am sure those who have seen him play will agree with me, he fully deserves his opportunity on Kendal 1st XV."

Moroson will take up the scrum-half role vacated by Will Voke, who had returned to Bath University to concentrate and his college studies. John Ladell who was selected for the No. 9 shirt will revert to the wing.

Jameson added: Will, who has travelled assiduously from Bath University almost since the start of the season and has performed tremendously well is no longer available to travel due to pressure of college studies.

"He has been a credit to his club. "

He added: "It is ironic that Lucian's friend and fellow Romanian, was accepted by the Scottish RU. long ago in August, and has played most games for Jedforest 1st XV since, even though the British Home Office governs the immigration rules both sides of the border."
