A MAN has been remanded back into custody ahead of his sentencing in the Crown Court for several offences.

Jordan Barnes, of Schooner Street in Barrow, who is currently remanded at HMP Preston, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to being the owner of a dog that caused injury whilst ‘dangerously out of control’.

The particulars of the offence detailed how the defendant’s XL Bully dog caused an injury to another member of the public whilst on Lord Street in Barrow on March 15 this year.

Appearing remotely at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on April 29, the 30-year-old also admitted to using threatening / abusive / insulting words / behaviour to cause harassment / alarm / distress towards the same complainant on March 15.

Barnes also admitted he assaulted an emergency worker, namely PC Massey, who was acting in the exercise of his functions on December 11 2023.

However, he denied another charge put by the Crown Prosecution Service of assault by beating on December 16.

The court heard Barnes was originally remanded in custody for breaching his bail conditions.

Magistrates ordered for a pre-sentence report to be prepared prior to his sentencing on June 10 at Preston Crown Court.
