The 17th
century Sun Inn stands prominently in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale, its upper
storey held in place by three stone pillars. Inside it is a welcoming fusion of
old and new; the traditional bar with real fires, low beams, oak floor boards
and leather seating extends into the light contemporary restaurant that has
lovely views across to St Mary’s Church.
The rooms are
stylish and modern, all with many thoughtful touches such as fresh milk, mineral
water, big fluffy bathrobes, lovely toiletries and perfumes, pillow top
mattresses and free wi-fi. Four of the eleven bedrooms accommodate dogs who can
also chill out with you downstairs in the bar.
In Kirkby
Lonsdale you can enjoy riverside walks, take a stroll through the winding
cobbled streets bursting with cottages, browse the chic independent shops, or
relax in one of the many cafés or bars.
Back at the Sun
you can enjoy complimentary tea and coffee, chill out with a book, enjoy
‘British tapas’ style nibbles, real ales, great wines, sumptuous dinner and one
of the best breakfasts ever.
