Weekly protests in Kendal calling for peace in Gaza have recently reached the six month milestone.
Just over half a year ago, Maria Gardner began driving her mobility scooter into Kendal town centre to take a seat outside the town hall and display the message: ‘Free the Palestinian Nation’.
She has been there from 11:00am to 12 noon every Saturday since then, joined by an growing number of fellow campaigners calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the supply of arms and arms components to Israel.

The campaigners were there again yesterday (April 27), inviting others to join them and promising to continue their weekly vigil for as long as necessary.
Spokesperson for the South Lakeland and Lancaster District Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, Philip Gilligan, said: “By now, it seems very clear that Israel has little or no interest in whether its relentless attacks on Gaza kill children and other innocents.
"Instead they continue with attacks which have already killed tens of thousands of women and children and displaced millions."
