PENRITH THROUGH TIME by Dr Bryan Lindley & Dr Judith Heyworth, £14.99
ISBN 978-1-445612744
This delightful collection of Penrith photographs – published as part of a popular series of local history books by Amberley – depicts the town and how it has changed from the early 1900s to 2013.
The idea is simple – photographs from the past are reproduced along with images of how the same scenes look today.
This results in a fascinating journey through time - hence the title.
Penrith Through Time has been compiled by husband-and-wife team Bryan Lindley and Judith Heworth, who live in the town and are involved in many local groups and activities.
Appropriately for this book, the couple have a long-standing interest in photography and both won awards from the Photograph Alliance of Great Britain and the Royal Photographic Society.
Together they also founded Penrith Contemporary Archives Group.
