Partners announced for this year’s Windermere One Way Swim
Updated 10:31am Tuesday 4th March 2014 in News
FOLLOWING the first Windermere One Way Swim in 2013, organisers have announced their official partners for this year’s event.
MyTriEvents is ‘delighted’ to announce the National Trust and Storrs Hall as partners for the swim on Sunday September 7.
The 10.5 mile open water swim will take in the full length of Windermere by starting at Fell Foot Park and finishing at Low Wray.
The swim has been organised by MyTriEvents to provide open water swimmers with a professionally managed and fully supported swim up the lake, which now includes a feed station at Storrs Hall Temple.
Event director, Natasha Walsh, said: “Last year, we achieved a 100 per cent success rate with everyone who took part completing the swim. Since then, we’ve had some superb feedback and given the iconic challenge of swimming the length of Windermere, we’ve decided to make this an annual event.
“Whilst it’s an incredibly long way to swim, we’re trying to making the event as accessible and enjoyable as possible and our partnerships with the National Trust and Storrs Hall mean we’re able to provide so much more than just an endurance swim. We’re adding value to the entire experience by providing some great facilities at three stunning lake shore venues.”
Tori Dodd, Fell Foot project manager at the National Trust, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Windermere One Way Swim. Fell Foot is a beautiful location and the facilities there mean it’s the perfect starting point for the event.
"Working with MyTriEvents to organise the finish at Low Wray also provides a great connection for both the National Trust and those taking part.”
Ms Walsh added: “We’re already over 90 per cent subscribed with swimmers coming from all over the country to take on the challenge of the Windermere One Way Swim and we are encouraging all of them to stay over to enjoy the complete Lake District experience.”
