Updated 3:43pm Thursday 27th March 2014 in News
A CUMBRIAN chef is one of six to make it into the finals of one of the world’s most prestigious cooking competitions.
Tom Barnes, 25, who works at Simon Rogan's L'Enclume, in Cartmel, will be judged by renowned Michelin starred chefs when he competes for The Roux Scholarship.
This will be his second year competing in the final, which will take place at Westminster Kingsway College, London, on April 14.
It will see him be given a recipe and ingredients to prepare and present either a modern or classic main dish to be judged by Michelin starred chefs Alain Roux, Sat Bains and Steve Love.
Last year Tom, whose ambition is to his own his own top restaurant one day, cooked a whole salmon with mush-rooms and spinach.
Tom said: “I have been inspired by everyone I’ve worked for, but I’m quite happy being me.”
