WE ARE now well in to the revised highways trial here on Wildman Street at Kendal, where we have successfully run our business for more than five years.
The cars pass freely outside our studio window during the day and we have not noticed any increase in standing traffic at peak rush hour times.
Furthermore, the designated parking bay seems to work really well both in terms of location and size. The previous situation where people pulled up on either side of the road on an ad hoc basis seemed to be both dangerous and cumbersome.
It seems to me the revised layout is also a fantastic opportunity for much-needed streetscape improvements, cycle path provision (so long as laborious crossing points can be eradicated in the final designs) and the creation of an entrance promenade for visitors to the town from the station/A6.
I genuinely look forward to the works being implemented.
