RUNNERS will next month be able to take part in the National Trust's first-ever seven kilometre night run in the Lake District.

The run in Langdale on Saturday March 10 has been organised to support essential ongoing conservation work around the national park.

Night Run is a national series of trail running events, organised in partnership with outdoor retailer Cotswold Outdoor. There will be £100 of Cotswold Outdoor vouchers to be won in a prize draw on the night.

Starting from the Sticklebarn pub, the route is traffic free, mostly on paths and trails with some uphill sections.

Gareth Field, the National Trust's Outdoor and Sports Programme Manager, said: “I’m really excited that the night run is coming to Langdale – it’s an event not to be missed.

"It’s a great opportunity to explore the valley by night and see the mountains in a different light, whilst helping to raise some important money to support the National Trust’s work of caring for special places for ever, for everyone.

“It’s open to all abilities and if you’d rather walk than run you’re more than welcome to."
