A CONTRIBUTION of £2,500 towards a bin screening project outside KFC has been agreed by Kendal Town Council.
The council's environment and highways committee heard the area at Woolpack Yard, managed by Elephant Yard, was considered run down.
KTC and South Lakeland District Council have already requested Holland and Barrett upgrade their building and this work is progressing.
Cllr John Veevers said he believed KFC should be responsible for screening the waste bins, not the council.
But Cllr Giles Archibald considered the project worthwhile and felt it would serve as an example to other areas of the town.
The money will come from the council's New Infrastructure Fund, which was operating with a £3,500 underspend.
The scheme also proposes painting murals near to the arched areas on the rear wall of Elephant Yard.
