The Westmorland Orchestra fielded a large team of players for the recent Westmorland Hall concert when a battery of percussionists, additional horns and trumpets joined the regulars for a performance of Mahler’s First Symphony.
UNDER the direction of their new musical director, Richard Howarth, the orchestra presented an attractive programme which opened with Borodin’s energetic and colourful overture, Prince Igor.
THE full Lake District Summer Music Festival programme does not get underway until July 29, but as a Festive Prelude we heard a concert by Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra in the Westmorland Hall.
