ONE of the region's most popular artists’ co-operatives is staging its most successful exhibition yet.

Fall is the latest show of Kendal Arts Community at its base at Ruskins Cafe Bar, in Smokehouse Yard, off Highgate, Kendal.

It is almost four years since a small group of Kendal based artists, artisans, craftsmen and writers met at Ruskins bar to create a Kendal based art community which is open to all.

It aims to incorporate as many people as we can across a wide range of disciplines and abilities to encourage artistic development in the local area. It now has more than 250 members.

After a tough selection process, 14 artists have been chosen to show two dozen works, including paintings, ceramics, paper cuts and other multi-media on the Fall theme.

Works range from interpretations of autumn to the physical act of falling. It replaces Rise which has been on show during the summer.

Fall will be on show until November 8, except for Comic Arts weekend, and will be followed at Ruskins by The Gathering, which will be displayed at a unit at K Village from October 23 for a couple of weeks before moving to Ruskins.

KAC exhibition co-ordinator Zoe Baker said that Fall has had the highest number of submissions for any KAC exhibition. She added: "We are growing as a community group with new members joining all the time.”

Among the artists showing with KAC for the first time in Fall are Colin Margison, who has had a successful solo exhibition at Kendal Leisure Centre; Ruth Castle, a Green Door artist with a national reputation; Roy Gibson and Jennifer Winetrobe.

Returning regulars include Zoe Baker, Jill Pemberton, Iain Greenwood and Karen Brittan.
