TWO students from Leeds College of Music have won a Windermere film company’s competition to put music to its short film.

‘Back to the Sea’ was written and performed by Patrick Craig, of South London, with additional vocals by Emma Dockeray, of Whitehaven.

The Dreamtime Film competition called for musicians to match a song to an atmospheric short film, shot on Windermere.

The song was chosen from 30 entries and producer Tom Lloyd said: “The call and response of Craig against Emma's beautiful vocals sat perfectly with the boy and girl in the boat.

“The mood of the song and the lyrics played well against the backdrop of the boat on the lake.”

Patrick wrote ‘Back to the Sea’ a year ago after watching ‘The Hunger Games’.

“Emma lived across the hall and I knew she was brilliant so I asked her if she’d sing on the track.”

Cumbrian Emma, who is studying Composition, said, “I was delighted because it’s such a beautiful song.

“The video touched me because I’m from a harbourside town and I love that area.”

Emma is supporting Sandi Thom at Egremont Market Hall today.
