LANCASTER singer-songwriter Imogen Rae is back in her hometown for a special gig at the Storey Institute tomorrow (Friday).

The nationally acclaimed musician will be using her summer break from university in Cambridge to launch her second album ‘Queen of Hearts’.

Tomorrow’s show will take place in the beautiful Music Hall, and feature songs from the new album.

"I'm very excited to be performing back in my home town with my double bassist Adam Harrison,” said Imogen.

In 2014, Imogen won the 'Exposure Award' in OpenMicUK as well gaining second place in the Young Songwriter of the Year and becoming a finalist National Folk Awards.

“Before I came to uni I wasn’t sure how much I was going to able to keep my music going,” she explained.

“So I recorded my first album, which was a celebration of my school and childhood gigging, and put it out on iTunes.”

Her debut album led to Imogen being picked up by Mercury Award Nominated producer Andy Ross, who helped her record ‘Queen of Hearts’, which was crowd funded through a Kickstarter campaign.

Said Imogen: "I was absolutely thrilled with the local support without which, the production of Queen of Hearts would not have been possible. I can't wait to show my supporters the finished product.

“I think it shows a progression from the first album into more professional performing.”

With the help of 300 backers, Queen of Hearts was recorded in ASTAR Studios in Manchester and is available to preorder from her website www.imogenrae.co.uk .

Imogen said: "In my uni holidays I have a busy gigging season. I'm looking forward to promoting my new album in venues of all sorts of shapes and sizes.”

As well as her homecoming show in Lancaster, Imogen will be sharing stages with Stephen Fry, The Fratellis and Jess Glynne when she performs at a number of university balls in Cambirdge.

The gig at The Storey Institute starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from www.imogenrae.co.uk, from the Storey Institute or via 01524 61801.
