BASED on the beautiful Isle of Skye, one of Scotland’s best-loved contemporary folk bands have announced a date at Carlisle’s Brickyard in March.

The Peatbog Faeries have twice won ‘Live Act of the Year’ at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards and last year were nominated for ‘Live Band of the Year’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Since forming in 1991, the band have become festival favourites with their brand of traditional Cetlic-influenced music, which also incorporates folk, electronica, rock and jazz.

Their sound mixes programmed effects with traditional Celtic arrangements played by bagpipes, fiddles and whistles.

All in all The Peatbog Faeries have recorded six studio albums, with their latest record, ‘Dust’, being released in August 2011.

They play at The Brickyard, Carlisle, on March 27.
