TROUTBECK is to be a stop-off point for an East Nashville songwriter, as she tours the UK in support of her latest album.

Amelia White, whose new album 'Home Sweet Hotel' came out after being funded via PledgeMusic, will play at the music and cider festival at Troutbeck's The Mortal Man Inn.

The tension of trying to scratch out a living as a touring musician and consequently struggling to manage a home life with a loved one is at the centre of the new album.

Accompanying Amelia's songwriting talents on the record are a host of musicians with experience with some of America's greatest players.

Featured appearances include multi-instrumentalist Sergio Webb (David Olney), Stuart Mathis (Lucinda Williams) on guitar, Ron Eoff (The Band) on bass, Paul Gordon (the B52’s) on keys and Julie Christensen (Leonard Cohen) adding some guest vocals.

Home Sweet Hotel bounces acoustic and electric guitars against backdrops by turns delicate or rocking, framing Amelia's voice and its quiet urgency. ‘Dangerous Angel’ is taut with a subtle but undeniable sensual tension, while ‘Dogs Bark’ is a bluesy sardonic punch at people who talk too much about other people. ‘Rainbow Over The East-Side’ is a defiantly optimistic salute to her adopted home town of East Nashville.

Amelia’s previous album Old Postcard was met with a slew of praise from outlets like USA Today, American Songwriter, The Bluegrass Situation and more. No Depression said “if Lucinda ever fronted Fleetwood Mac, this might be the outcome,” with the Bluegrass Situation adding that "I think we're entering a great new era of alternative country music. If you need an example, look no further than Amelia White."

Born in Virginia and raised in Boston, Amelia graduated from staging plays in her back yard to writing songs as soon as she acquired an acoustic guitar. The writing came quickly and hasn't stopped since - “I like to think of myself as a writer-song singer instead of a singer-songwriter.” she says.

The festival will take place over July 9 and 10, and will feature a number of live bands as well as beers and ciders to sample.
