Hip Hop fans can enjoy top show of lyrical artistry from some of the UK’s finest exponents of urban culture at Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre on Saturday (November 23, 8pm).

Jonzi D, who is regarded as the Godfather of the UK hip hop scene, presents Lyrikal Fearta - a thrilling night of his acclaimed solo work, including pieces such as The Letter, which explores his response to being offered an MBE, and the UK premiere of a newly-commissioned piece Broken Lineage.

Broken Lineage is a collaboration with top hip hop artist Ivan Blackstock of the BirdGang Dance Company and looks at the relationship between old skool and new skool hip hop generations and is laced with Jonzi’s trademark wit, humour and style.

Jonzi is a Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist and as an MC and poet, he has worked with The Roots, Steve Williamson, Mannafest, Lenny Henry and toured with Gangstarr. In 2007, Jonzi was listed as one of the top 10 positive black musical role models by MOBO.
