CARNFORTH songwriting prodigy Molly Warburton is releasing her debut EP  with a special launch event in Lancaster.

The 17-year-old’s debut record will round off an incredibly busy year which has seen her perform over 150 gigs in 12 months.

All five songs on ‘What the Night May Bring’ are self penned, from the title track, inspired by Mumford & Sons, to the final song ‘This Land’, which is dedicated to a friend of Molly’s who passed away.

The acoustic folk/pop singer has been playing guitar and singing for four years and started writing her own songs just over a year ago, helped along by her bandmates who put melodies to her mature and beautiful lyrics.

Along with bandmates guitarist Nick Latham and bassist Luke Wilding, she formed a company simply called Molly and The Band Ltd, and signed a publishing, performing and recording agreement with it.

They group had created their own fully fledged music business with themselves as the star artist, just needing the money to grow it.

It wasn’t long in coming, after local entrepreneur and investor Matthew Allen heard them playing in his local pub and discovered that most of the songs he enjoyed the most were the band’s own compositions.

He invited them to play at a private festival before learning about their ambitions and immediately agreeing to take a 50 per cent share in and join the board of their company.

Molly continues "I have always wanted to make a career in music and have worked incredibly hard on my recording, songwriting and live performance.

“I always knew that it takes more than just talent to make it big and I want to be in control of my own career and develop my own personality and brand - I want to be more myself and less X Factor."

Molly is currently juggling a busy gigging schedule with completing her A Levels, but plans to pursue music full-time next year, saying ‘my music comes first at the moment’.

‘What the Night May Bring’ launches at The Dalton Rooms, Lancaster, on November 22.
