QUEEN Elizabeth School is staging We Will Rock You.

Running at the Kirkby Lonsdale school from Monday, February 2 until Saturday, February 7, Ben Elton's rock opera uses the songs of Queen and begins 300 years in the future where fun is downloaded from the internet, all young people are clones of each other and music is made by computers only.

Directed by Laura-Anne Shepherd and produced by the QES Theatre Arts team, it is a fast-paced, loud and energetic production, packed with Queen’s greatest hits and starring more than 60 talented students from the school's years seven-13.

The show is set 300 years in the future and follows a group of Bohemians desperately searching for the freedom to listen to rock music and the ability to break free.

"Using such a large ensemble company has allowed for very clever staging and the ability to truly bring out the desired live music gig experience that was my initial concept for the show," explained Laura-Anne.

"For me, one of the most exciting things about working on this production was seamlessly collaborating with the music department and bringing to life such legendary and well known music."

Performances start at 7pm with a 2pm matinee on the Saturday. There is no show on the Wednesday.
