ORIGINAL Stranglers frontman Hugh Cornwell will visit Morecambe as part of a tour supporting his first anthology of solo work.

Twenty-five years on from leaving the band, ‘The Fall and Rise of Hugh Cornwell’ brings together 12 choice Cornwell classics of his post-Stranglers career taken from the first six solo albums.

It also features one brand new studio recording, entitled ‘Live It and Breathe It’.

Hugh will be embarking on a major acoustic tour of the UK this month, including a stop at The Platform, Morecambe, on November 12.

Hugh Cornwell is one of the most important figures in punk and new wave music.

As the original guitarist, singer and main songwriter in the British rock band The Stranglers, Hugh enjoyed massive success with 10 hit albums and 21 Top Forty singles, etching himself into Europe and the USA's musical psyche with classic songs, including Peaches, No More Heroes, Golden Brown, Nice N’ Sleazy, Always the Sun and Duchess.

His first solo record “Wolf” (1988) was released whilst still a member of the band but, since leaving The Stranglers in 1990, Hugh Cornwell has made series of well-received solo albums including ‘Wired’, ‘Guilty’, ‘Hi Fi’, ‘Beyond Elysian Fields’ and ‘Hooverdam’, with producers including Tony Visconti, Laurie Latham and Liam Watson.

‘The Fall And Rise Of Hugh Cornwell’ includes two tracks from each of these six albums, plus the 2015 recording “Live It And Breathe It”.

His most recent studio album ‘Totem and Taboo’ was released to rave reviews in 2013. Recorded at Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago, the album was engineered and mixed by the legendary Steve Albini.

Always ahead of the curve, he has made headlines both with the music and innovative approaches to reaching new audiences over the years, being at the forefront of experimentation with free downloads and crowdfunding.

“The Fall And Rise Of Hugh Cornwell” is sure to be a hit with Stranglers fans and others curious to catch up with the solo work of this revolutionary, radical legend of modern music.

This album is a carefully curated dip into the deep pool of work created in the 27 years since Hugh Cornwell has been releasing solo albums.
