TOP flight singer Hilary Wade will take on the traditional role of Britannia at this year's patriotic flag waving bonanza which has become a Flookburgh Band's Last Night of the Proms tradition.
Hilary, of Grange-over-Sands, is a founder member of Opera North and her very varied musical life has ranged from being part of the BBC Northern Singers, through choral concerts, recitals, teaching singing to many schoolchildren and students to running and conducting choirs and choral groups.
Flookburgh Band's Last Night of The Proms, which features all the firm favourites from the London Albert Hall Last Night finale as well as the best of Flookburgh's brass arrangements, has become an annual sell out and this year's event, at Grange-over-Sands Victoria Hall, on Saturday, August 11 is expected to be no exception.
Flookburgh concerts now start at 7pm rather than 7.30pm. Tickets are available from Grange Tourist Information Centre; Cockles shop, Flookburgh; or online at www.trybooking.co.uk/AUG.
