DESCRIBED as "the best band to ever come out of Japan" by Radio One DJ Steve Lamacq, Mika Bomb are coming to the Bay this weekend.

Maybe it is not the most convincing accolade, but you can decide for yourselves when the girls bring their punked-up Motown to the Farmers Arms, Lancaster, tomorrow (Saturday) night.

Lead singer Mika arrived in London in 1998, with only one thing on her mind - playing in a cool punk band.

After countless gigs, rave reviews followed and a signing to Beastie Boys' label Grand Royal in 2000. Despite the label folding, the band signed with a new label and have two albums under their diminutive belts 2001's The Fake Fake sound of MIKA BOMB and 2005's HellCats.

Their distinctive, helter-skelter pop sound, will be bolstered tomorrow by The Violets and Lancaster's Adventures of Loki who recently won a best unsigned act' contest on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show and played this year's Leeds Festival.

Veda Hille plays at the Farmers Arms tonight (Friday), where the Canadian singer will be performing songs from her new album Return of the Killdeer. She will be supported by Blackpool's The Neon Trees and their country power-pop', Superkings and Uncle Jeff.
