A MUSICIAN from Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School is celebrating after making it into the finals of the national Young Songwriter of the Year Competition.
Following phone and text voting by the public, 15-year-old Imogen Mechie’s song entry, Build My Wings, got some of the highest numbers of votes. She will get to record her song at Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler’s studio.
The track will be available for download from www.young-songwriters.co.uk until December 12 and the downloaded tune will determine who is crowned Young Songwriter of the Year in the UK.
