A BAND tipped to be biggest rockstars to come out of America since the Kings of Leon are playing in Lancaster on February 19 and Liverpool on March 8 during their limited UK tour.

Mona will be playing songs from their soon-to-be-released debut album which will be out this Spring.

Inspired by classic Rock n Roll, a sound blending Bob Dylan with Led Zeppelin, Mona proclaim they are on a mission to put the ‘feeling back into music’.

The band’s lead singer Nick Brown sounds like a slightly more husky version of Anthony Caleb Followill -lead vocalist for the Kings of Leon.

But parallels between the bands do not stop with vocals, both have members who were church pastor’s sons and the two bands are very good friends.

Nick said: “It’s a compliment to be compared to them as they are such a big band, but we just want to be the best band we can. We have tried to create our own sound.

“I’m excited about visiting Lancaster, I’ve never been there before or the Lake District.”

He added the four-man band named itself after his grandma.

“All you need is love is such a simple message but it wasn’t until The Beatles sang about it that people really understood it.” Nick said: “That’s what we are trying to achieve with our music simply messages that put the emotion back into music, remind people how to feel.

“We live in quite an apathetic era and we want our music to remind people of emotions.”

Mona have not got any plans for the summer yet but Nick said he thought Kendal Calling sounded like fun.

“Yeah it sounds good -set in the hills. We aren’t sure what we are doing yet but I would like to do some festivals.”

Mona will be at Lancaster Library on Saturday, February 19; then Liverpool Academy on Tuesday, March 8.
