POP rock legends 10cc are set to dazzle revellers during an exclusive gig, headlining a new music concert in South Lakeland.

Famous for a host of chart hits, including their romantic ballad I’m not in Love, their reggae-styled smash-hit Dreadlock Holiday, and their rock ’n’ roll track Rubber Bullets, the band will unleash their classics at Lakeland Live.

Described by some as the missing link between The Beatles and the Gorillaz, 10cc ruled the pop world in the 1970s.

Now returning with fresh energy, Graham Gouldman, along with the rest of the band, have managed to squeeze in the gig at the County Showground, Crooklands, ahead of a tour of South Africa. Lakeland Live is billed as an-open air family musical event, taking place as part of Country Fest’s Saturday night entertainment, on May 26.

One of the event organisers, Christine Knipe said: “The County Showground, and our experience in delivering world-class events, are often overlooked by live music promoters, but we’ve always felt the right kind of music concert would be ideal to be hosted here.

“Country Fest seemed to be the perfect platform as a celebration of country living to look at extending that for a family concert for local residents of north Lancashire and south Cumbria to enjoy on their doorstep.”

Staff at Kendal’s music venue Bootleggers were asked to help organisers find a world-class band to perform on the night.

Owner Jonty Martindale said: “It was a very tense few weeks negotiating with the bands.

“But it was so exciting to finally confirm 10cc as our headline act. It made all the hard work and late nights worthwhile.”

Kendal’s very own Fabulous Picasso Brothers will get the party started just after 6pm, and 10cc will also be supported by rhythm and blues hero Aynsley Lister For tickets visit www.west morlandshow.co.uk, call 01539 567 804, or visit Bootleggers Bar, Finkle Street, Kendal.
