AN INTERACTIVE session addressing the contentious issue of nuclear power will be held in Kendal next week.

South Lakeland Friends of the Earth would like to invite members of the public to come along and have all their questions answered by three experts in renewable energy.

Dr Stuart Parkinson, director of Scientists for Global Responsibility, Jean McSorley, a nuclear advisor for Greenpeace, and Neil Crumpton, a nuclear campaigner for Friends of the Earth, will speak on "Nuclear Power: Part of the solution or part of the problem?" and the public will be given the opportunity to ask questions.

South Lakeland Friends of the Earth urges anyone who would like to know what the chances are of a dangerous accident happening again, whether nuclear power is really carbon free and what it would mean for a community to have a waste repository in their area, to come along and find out more.

It is hoped that the meeting, which takes place at 7.30pm on October 24 in the Shakespeare Centre, will result in a case being made for a bright renewable future, rather than one that could lead to nuclear chaos.
