A NEW organisation has been created to help young people develop a career in agriculture.
At the Henry Plumb Foundation’s launch in the House of Lords, Lord Plumb – a former National Farmers’ Union president – spelled out his belief that the future of agriculture was strong but needed new generations to enter the industry.
“All of us believe in encouraging young people into our great industry, whether it's at home or abroad,” he said. “We want to give young people the confidence to make a difference to their own lives and have the courage to follow their dreams. We want these young people to realise that they're entering the most exciting industry in the world. We may only be able to help a few but in helping a few we may help the many.”
The Henry Plumb Foundation aims to provide help in the form of grants and business mentors to young people under 25 who are thinking of a career in farming.
