A MAN was taken to hospital suffering from suspected smoke inhalation following a fire at a two-storey terraced house near Carnforth.
Firefighters from Arnside, Kirkby Lonsdale and Milnthorpe attended the property in Peartree Park, Holme in the early hours of Monday morning.
A 49-year-old was inside at the time and was later treated at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue service spokesman said: "Firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets to put out the blaze and a thermal imaging camera to make sure there were no further hotspots of fire.
"An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway."
A Cumbria Police spokesman urged anyone with any information to call Kendal CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
He added: "We would like to remind the public that such events are rare in Cumbria."
