A SPECIAL event takes place in Kirkby Lonsdale later this month to raise funds for Cumbria’s Military Museum.

The Friends of Cumbria’s Military Museum are presenting a Food and History Evening.

The topic is China and the Border Regiment’s connection to Westmorland.

It features Cumbrian Chef John Crouch and Stuart Eastwood, Curator of Cumbria’s Military Museum in Carlisle.

It takes place at the Kirkby Lonsdale Institute, New Road, on Saturday September 21 from 6.30pm.

Mr Eastwood will speak about The Border Regiment’s long connection with Westmorland and its service in China 1841-42.

It was involved in the capture of the famous Imperial Dragon Standard which is displayed in Kendal Parish Church.

Mr Crouch, a local chef, will demonstrate a variety of Chinese dishes and the talks will be followed by a three course buffet.

Tickets must be booked in advance and are £12 per person with all welcome.

All proceeds will go to help support the work of the Museum and its collections in Carlisle Castle.
