LOCAL entrepreneurs have taken the Driving Hospice Care total to almost £10,000.

Generous South Lakeland businessmen and women handed over £515.50 at the The Westmorland Gazette’s business awards last Friday, taking donations to £9,698.50 in three weeks.

“We’re so pleased with how much we raised on the night,” said Gazette content editor Andrew Thomas.

“Everybody who donated deserves a huge ‘thank you’.”

The appeal aims to raise £36,800 for two 4x4s for Hospice at Home nurses from St John’s Hospice. The money raised will pay for two Kia Sportages from Windermere’s Rayrigg Motors, which will help the nurses reach their patients in all weathers.
