DONATIONS for Driving Hospice Care smashed through the £10,000 barrier this week.

Generous local people have continued to send in money from all corners of South Lakeland, north Yorkshire and north Lancashire, taking the total to £10,268.92.

The money is being raised to buy 4x4s for Hospice at Home nurses at St John’s Hospice, who travel all over the area treating terminally-ill people who have chosen to die at home.

Coun Heidi Halliday, South Lakeland councillor for Ambleside and Grasmere, said: “St John’s Hospice cared for my nana at a time when there was not this opportunity for care at home, but the level of care and support they provided, at such an emotional time, was second to none.

“I strongly urge readers to back this campaign.”
