WEDDING bells were in everyone’s mind as happy couples and bridal parties headed to Kendal’s Stonecross Manor Hotel for The Westmorland Gazette wedding fair.

Guests were treated to a catwalk display of bride and bridesmaid gowns from Kendal retailer A Family Affair and had an opportunity to view wedding products and services from a range of exhibitors.

Complimentary smoked salmon canapés and home-made desserts from Stonecross Manor and music from Cumbrian singer and DJ John Penn added to the atmosphere as visitors browsed stalls.

Stonecross Manor director Ann Maclean said: “It’s great to see so many exhibitors here – we’re aiming to show the hotel as a good wedding venue that offers value for money, with packages that people can afford.”

As well as stalls showcasing wedding essentials such as suits and flowers, quirky extras on show included balloon archways, chocolate fountains, candy buffets and a photo booth for wedding guests.

There were even pre-wedding pampering treatments to be seen, including a stall offering anti-ageing home spa treatments.

Soon-to-be bride Donna Airey, who lives in Kendal, went along to put the finishing touches to her own wedding.

“I’m looking for table settings and other bits and bobs – I’ve seen quite a few things here that I like,” she said.
