A FLOCK of black and white swans invaded the Blackpool Winter Gardens in the form of dancers from the Maria Frances School of Dance in Ambleside.

The school’s senior troupe took part in the Association of American Dancing national troupe awards competition, competing against 40 other troupes from all over the country.

The 28 dancers performed a modern interpretation of Swan Lake to Evanescence's classic track, ‘Bring Me to Life,’ to win first place in the competition.

The school’s babes troupe came third in the babes award, and in the junior awards the school gained first place with ‘Hansel and Gretel’and third place with ‘Revenge of the Nutcracker’.

School principal Maria Pattinson praised the dedication and talent of her pupils.
