THOUSANDS of Kendal homes and businesses could have been affected by this morning's burst water pipe, United Utilities have said.
The water company began receiving reports of low pressure or no water at around 5am this morning.
It has now confirmed that a pipe had burst on Burton Road, near Heron Hill.
Engineers are on scene and traffic lights are to be installed while repair work gets underway.
It is likely the lights will remain until tomorrow afternoon but pressure should be restored by late afternoon, said a company spokesman.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused," she added.
