IAIN Wright MP, shadow minister for competitiveness, will be in Furness tomorrow to see how the area is becoming a hub for high-tech manufacturing jobs.

He will be accompanied on a tour of Barrow and Ulverston by Barrow and Furness MP John Woodcock.

The first part of the shadow minister’s visit will comprise a tour of BAE Systems in Barrow tomorrow morning.

They will be given an overview of the company by senior BAE personnel before meeting representatives of the unions. The visit will later include a tour of Artful – one of the Astute-class submarines under construction in the Devonshire Dock Hall.

Mr Woodcock and his Westminster colleague will then visit Marl International, Marl Business Park, Morecambe Road, Ulverston, in the afternoon.
