KENDAL Civic Society is putting together a project to restore the Old Police Yard off the town’s Market Place.
The work includes restoring the stonework, fresh paint and lighting along the length of the yard but the centrepiece will be the commissioning of a mural.
Society treasurer Robin Yates is urging artists to come forward with ideas which will then be shortlisted in the coming weeks.
He said: “It is our 50th anniversary coming up and we wanted to do something that will really benefit Kendal and we think this project will.
“We are looking for artists to send in their own interpretations and we will then shortlist the work in the next few weeks.”
