HOLME and District Poultry Society staged its annual show for the first time at the new J36 auction centre at Crooklands – and the event was pronounced a great success with 611 exhibits in poultry classes and 84 eggs on display.
The best in show award went to an Old English Game Bird owned by enthusiast Pat Burns of Low Bentham, with a Silkie owned by Waterworth and Woods, of Leigh – which also won the prize for large soft feather– as the reserve champion.
Club secretary Catherine Slater said the number of entries was up on last year and the standard of entries in Wyandotte and game classes were particularly high.
