A ROUTINE check on the M6 close to Kendal led police to a £6,000 cannabis stash.
On Thursday last week police stopped a vehicle close to Burton-in-Kendal and noticed a strong smell of the plant coming from inside.
A searched was carried out and approximately half a kilo of cannabis was located, estimated to have a street vaue of around £6,000.
“Cumbria Police are dedicated in removing any illegal drugs from our communities," said Detective Sergeant Mark Somers.
"From the Roads Policing Unit to Detectives in Criminal Investigation, we all work together to build safe and stronger communities.”
The two male occupants of the car, aged 23 and 20 and from Barrow, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
Both have been bailed until 3 March 2014.
