A LAKE District charity which helps local children to learn to swim has been boosted by a £1,000 donation raised from a drier form of exercise – a sponsored walk.
The cash was raised by Jimmy Tinsley, who completed Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to Coast route from St Bee’s Head to Robin Hood’s Bay with his friend Brian McBain.
Mr Tinsley also raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Blue Lamp Foundation in memory of his wife, who died from cancer.
