Updates on obesity, smoking, and dementia are top of the agenda for tomorrow's meeting of the county council’s Health Scrutiny Committee.
The committee - to be held at 10am on Thursday, January 20, atCounty Offices, Kendal - will receive updates on the North Cumbria University Hospitals Trust's breast screening programme; the performance of North West Ambulance Service; as well as obesity and healthy weight in the county; smoking; dementia and speech therapy.
Coun Rod Wilson, chair of the committee, said: “This is a wide-ranging agenda and is a great opportunity for members of the scrutiny committee to consider these particular areas of health in Cumbria in more detail.
"On some of the issues the facts speak for themselves – we have problems with dementia, smoking, and obesity and this is an ideal opportunity to see what's being done to tackle it."
