COLD callers selling cleaning products stole five cheques from the chequebook of an elderly lady in Cark-in-Cartmel.

The lady bought an ironing board cover and feather duster from the callers after they knocked on her door.

Police believe they took the cheques while she was distracted.

Family members noticed the theft several days later.

The incident occurred between February 26-28.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 101, and reminding members of the public to be vigilant about cold callers.
