OXENHOLME is one of 10 rail stations in the country to have a ‘pop-up shop’ showcasing small independent businesses this week.
For four days, starting on Friday, commuters and visitors will be able to sample wares from six local companies.
The businesses, who will be based in the waiting room on Platform One, will sell goods including jewellery, flowers, crocheted accessories and brownies.
The Virgin Trains scheme started in Crewe as the brainchild of Nicola Griffiths, who works as a Development Officer for the company.
“It all started with the stalls selling flags and scarves that started to pop up in the run-up to Crewe Alexandra going to Wembley for the first time,” she said.
Independent business owners who wish to take part in the scheme should contact nicola.griffiths@virgintrains.co.uk
