PUPILS at Windermere School were treated to an experience of a lifetime when professional basketball team the Manchester Giants came to share the secrets of their hoop-shooting success.
The Giants, one of the biggest and best-supported names in the sport with a number of international and Olympic players, received a warm welcome when they visited the school.
Team members spent an afternoon coaching many of the year seven to nine students before an exhibition match against the ‘Windermere Lakers’ School Basketball Team. The school team secured a 57-55 win after extra time.
Ian Lavender, headmaster, said: “It was an exceptional privilege for our students to be able to play alongside professionals, as well as against them and benefit from their expertise.”
