MORE than 60 snowboarders and skiers converged on Kendal Snowsports club for K-Jam – a British Snow Tour- ranked freestyle event.

Competitors displayed their skills on a range of jumps and obstacles including rails and boxes.

They tried to impress the judges with tricks involving multiple rotations and stylish grabs.

Kendal’s David Thexton took first place overall skier, first place male 16+ and first un-sponsored skier. As well as receiving a trophy he also won a new set of skis kindly donated by George Fisher of Keswick.

His sister Heather also took first place in the female 16+ ski category. Jordan Vance came second in the male 16+ snowboard category and first place un-sponsored snowboarder, winning a new Raven snowboard.

Bradley Gaulter was third 16+ snowboard with Peter Bevan taking third place in the male 16+ ski category with Jonny Cresswell third in the under-12 snowboard category. As well as the main event there was a giant airbag that competitors and none competitors could use to practice all sorts of aerial manoeuvres without consequence of injury.

Local rider Craig Robinson won the best airbag trick of the day with his perfect backflips.
