AN Appleby man was airlifted to hospital with a serious head injury over the weekend.
The Great North Air Ambulance (GNAAS) were called to Appleby at around 4pm on Saturday (May 10).
A GNAAS spokesperson said the man, in his 50s, had fallen earlier in the day and sustained a head injury which gradually worsened.
The Aircrew Doctor and Paramedic assisted by North West Ambulance Service Paramedics assessed and treated the man for his injuries before flying him to the James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough.
His condition was described as critical.
