A KENDAL school had a Commonwealth themed day which featured a sponsored fun run started by the town’s mayor Coun Tom Clare.
The event at Vicarage Park School linked into the Commonwealth Games that will take place at Glasgow in July and August.
Each class made flags from different Commonwealth countries and Coun Clare spoke to the children about Commonwealth meaning working together for the common good of everyone.
He said that this meant working together as a school, community, nation and with other nations.
Mr Clare then joined the children on the school field and started the fun run organised by The Friends of Vicarage Park.
Headteacher Bernadette Calvey described the fun run as a truly inclusive event in which many of the older children were responsible for helping the younger ones.
