WOMEN are being invited to a business networking event this week.

It takes place at Brigsteer Hall, near Kendal, on Thursday June 26 between 4.30pm and 7pm.

Called 'Daisychain Networking Events', they are being run by Ulverston-based Resource Marketing.

The company was awarded the contract to deliver the informal networking events for Cumbrian women in business, who are self-employed or looking to develop their own business.

The events are part of a wider programme funded by Cumbria Chamber of Commerce through the Women’s Rural Growth Network.

There are also a number of events being planned across the county which include a lakeside barbecue get-together later this summer.

They are aimed at bringing together women from around Cumbria in a relaxed informal setting, to have a glass of wine, meet and learn from local women running successful small businesses.

There will be opportunity to make new contacts, sell products and services, share business ideas and find out where you can get free professional help, support and advice through the many free courses, workshops and seminars offered by the Rural Women’s Growth Network.

These range from financial management to how to build your own website.

Organisers say attendance is expected to be high with the local business community already confirmed including Jane Jarvis Colonics, Horse & Husky and Fraser PR Services.

Also attending are the Chill & Grill Ice Cream shop situated just outside Ulverston which will be giving away free ice creams.

Jeanne Green, proprietor of the Chill & Grill, on the Coast Road, said: ‘I’m a great believer in events that support women in business. I have been running my own business for nearly 30 years.

"I can always learn something new and things could always be run more smoothly. It’s vital to embrace as much support and guidance as possible to help make the journey a little smoother and ensure your business evolves over time."

Emma Walker-Hughes, of Resource Marketing and the Daisychain event organiser, said: ‘Often women are put off networking, they might feel a little nervous about mixing with people they haven’t met and often wonder what they will actually get from the events.

"The Daisychain events are designed to overcome these two common misconceptions, they are relaxed and informal and offer help in the form of access to business support and many diverse courses and seminars aimed at helping you in business long after the end of the event."

There are a limited number of display places available, if you are local to Ulverston and South Lakes and have a product or service that you would like to show to other women contact the resource marketing team on 01229 400226, to register online www.resourcemarketing.co.uk.
